Notes
Notes
Add notes to keywords and sites to track your SEO work, document observations, and maintain context over time.
Adding a Note
To add a note to a keyword:
- Click the note icon next to any keyword
- Write your note in the text field
- Click Save
Notes support free-form text, so you can write whatever is relevant:
- "Optimized title on March 1"
- "Page rewritten to target intent"
- "Competitor outranking us with longer content"
Viewing Notes
Notes appear:
- On the keyword row — A small note icon indicates a note exists
- In keyword details — Click any keyword to see its full note history
- On the dashboard — Notes are visible in Favorites and other sections
Stale Notes
Notes that haven't been updated in over 30 days are flagged as "stale." This helps you:
- Review old observations that may no longer be relevant
- Follow up on plans you made but never completed
- Clean up notes that were for testing purposes
You can see all stale notes in the Stale Notes section on the dashboard.
Site Notes
In addition to keyword notes, you can also add notes at the site level. Go to any site and look for the note panel to:
- Document site-specific observations
- Track major changes (site redesigns, migration, etc.)
- Keep a record of communications with developers or stakeholders
Best Practices
- Date your notes — Include when you made an observation
- Be specific — "Updated H1 to include 'running shoes'" is better than "Updated content"
- Track outcomes — Note what happened after your changes (did the keyword improve?)
- Regular reviews — Check stale notes weekly to keep your documentation current
